A family knowledge base - recipes, manuals, house rules Project documentation with a structure you can follow Book > Chapter > Page, so a large set stays readable Full text search and tags A visual editor and a Markdown editor First steps Open wiki.tester4.test in your browser Sign in: admin@admin.com and the first password shown on the settings page Change the admin e-mail address to your own Create your first shelf and book Start writing Add a family member Everyone signs in with their own account, so you can see who wrote what. In the top bar, select „Settings”, then „Users”. Select „Add New User”, and fill in „Name” and „Email”. Under „User Roles”, tick „Editor”, or „Viewer” if they only read. Turn off „Send user invite email” and give them a password. Select „Save”, and give the family member the e-mail address and the password. Write a page with a picture You can write down a recipe or a manual together with a picture. Open the book and select „New Page”. Type the title and the text. In the editor's toolbar, select „Insert image”, then „Upload Image”. Choose the picture and select „Select Image”. Select „Save Page”. Tags and search With tags you find pages from different books in one place. While editing, open „Page Tags” in the bar on the right. In „Tag Name”, type a word, for example: recipe. Select „Save Page”. Later you find the page with that word in the search box at the top, or by selecting a tag. Print or save a page You can download a page, or a whole book, as a PDF file. Open the page or the book. In the bar on the right, select „Export”. Choose „PDF File”, and save it or print it. Frequently asked questions Can I switch it to Hungarian? Yes. Under your name at the top right, open „My Account”, choose Hungarian in the „Preferred Language” field, and save. This guide shows the English labels. What are a shelf, a book, a chapter and a page? The page is the actual text, a chapter holds pages, and a book holds chapters and pages. A shelf keeps several books together, for example Kitchen or House. Can I see an older version of a page? Yes. In the bar on the right of the page, „Revisions” shows who changed what and when. A family member forgot their password. What do I do? As an administrator, open the family member on the „Users” page, give them a new password, and select „Save”. Where are the uploaded pictures? On the box, in BookStack's own storage.
