Storage — Network storage (NAS)
NAS shares
Connect a NAS share (NFS or SMB) for large media (films, photos, music). The share can be chosen as a media app’s data folder. Network storage is not a physical drive — there is no unmount or move, only removal.
No network storage set up.
Add network storage
Before connecting, the system checks the share: whether it can really be mounted, and whether the apps can write to it. If something fails, nothing is left half set up.
What do I set up on the NAS?

Allow the Felhom machine’s IP address on the share. For a Proxmox cluster, the IP address of every node.
SMB (Synology, QNAP — most NAS devices)
Create (or pick) a user on the NAS, and give it read-write rights on the share. Nothing else is needed — files on the NAS are created in that user’s name.
NFS
Synology (DSM, checked steps): first turn on NFS — Control Panel → File Services → NFS tab → „Enable NFS service”, and set „Maximum NFS protocol” to NFSv4.1 (the default NFSv3 is not enough to connect). Then, editing the shared folder, on the „NFS Permissions” tab create a rule for the Felhom machine’s IP address, with Read/Write permission and „Map all users to admin” in the Squash field. The share path is shown on the same tab (for example /volume1/<folder>) — it goes into the „Share” field above.
Simple (other NAS devices): turn on „map all users” (all squash) on the export with read-write mode — to any local user. The file owner shows as „nobody” in the system; that is fine for the great majority of apps.
Complete (TrueNAS / Linux server): export with these options:
rw,all_squash,anonuid=101000,anongid=101000
— so the owner information is correct too.
A step-by-step guide for the QNAP interface is being written.
